Alaine L. Cohen
Alaine has been teaching English 9 - 12 (all levels, including the heterogeneously grouped Creative Writing course) at BCHS for the past 15 years. Alaine is also the mother of two beautiful girls, ages 2 and 7. Although she have taught many Aspies in classes, nothing has opened her eyes to the unique ways a teacher must accomodate students who have been diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum as clearly as the experiences she has had since her seven-year old was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome at three years old. It is Alaine's mission to ensure that the Aspie student, his/her neurotypical classmates, and the classroom teacher can all learn together in an atmosphere that provides minimum stress and maximum growth for all of us
